Shocking Rise In Crohns Hospital Admissions

I have produced a graph showing the NHS hospital episode statistics for crohns disease. They increased from 15,569 in 98/99 to 36,607 in 06/07. This is for England and Wales only and does not include private hospitals.

Chrohns Hospital Episodes  have more than doubled Since 1998

I have included other common medical conditions on the graph so people can  compare the figures and reach their own conclusions.

There are far more admissions than for Tuberculosis, Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.

A similar statistic is that for alcoholic liver disease the green line.

You will be aware that the government has put a lot of effort into   solving the alcohol problem.

The UK government needs to fund more research in to crohns disease and similar conditions.

I have given a copy of this graph to a representative of crohns charity NACC.

The figures on which it is based are on the NHS online website, should someone wish to check them.

They are copyright, but campaigners appear to be free to use them, as long as the source is quoted.

Crohns  hospital admissions are doubling  every 8 years, what is the reason?
